Alumni at a Critical Moment
A compelling read on a new direction for alumni
Dear Friends:
I am fortunate through my work, speaking engagements and research to meet many incredible alumni professionals, practitioners, researchers and leaders that inspire me. Many of these leaders are featured regularly in this newsletter. One such alumni superstar is Andy Shaindlin, Consulting Director, Alumni Engagement for Huron - GG+A Global Philanthropy.
This week, the message is short and sweet. We find ourselves at a crossroads in higher education and indeed in alumni engagement work. I am challenging you to take your favourite hot beverage and a few minutes on this Alumni Friday to read Andy's LinkedIn Pulse Article: Alumni Partnership: A Critical Moment
Here's a snippet:
"Alumni rivalries are fun, and always fuel engagement... But only by combining forces can university's harness a truly amplified voice on behalf of higher education - through the combined influence, leadership, and support of millions of college graduates."
I read this article almost 2 months ago and the sentiment has stayed with me - I wanted to share to enable you - alumni-facing professionals, alumni and students - to consider the changing role of alumni partnership for/in higher education and for all our organisations. Hats off to Andy for his passion! I have had the pleasure of meeting him on a few occasions in person. His positive energy for the power of alumni is infectious.
Happy reading! (It's not long savour a few moments to read it through - a Generative AI summary won't give you the same umph! Allow yourself the umph!)
With alumni energy,
Maria
